On the surface, we seem like a bunch of folks that like to dress up like cowboys and cowgirls, with clever names that poke fun of both real and imaginary legends of the Old West.

But, Cowboy Action Shooting is much more. It is an international shooting competition that is governed by the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS). Enjoyed by people of all ages and experience levels from the novice to the seasoned top guns, everyone can find a niche in the sport of Cowboy Action Shooting.  Many come out for the comradery, western dress, and sending a few rounds down range. Others are serious competitors that go for the coveted Top Gun award by delivering incredible speed and accuracy on each stage.

Shooters range in age from 8 to over 80. Competitions are broken into various categories which include: age, men/women, outfit style, and shooting style. The weapons used are reproductions from the late 1800s - The pistols, rifle, and shotguns that were used to tame the West.

Our matches consist of timed, close range shooting on metal targets. Each stage has a set sequence for the pistols, shotgun, and rifle. The stage is timed and penalties are assessed for misses or out of sequence shooting. Times vary widely depending on the shooter’s skill, but everyone is welcome regardless of speed.

Novice shooters are personally instructed by a ROII qualified Cowboy Action shooter to ensure the safety and enjoyment of Cowboy Action Shooting.
